The Aboitiz Group, together with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of National Defense (DND), put up P.A.G.K.A.I.N para sa mga Bayani Livelihood Program, a camp-based enterprise development program for retired and wounded soldiers. This program is in support of the DA’s KISSME (Karne, Isda, Supply, at Suporta para sa Masa at Ekonomiya) banner program to help soldiers receive other viable options of livelihood after giving service to the country.
The Aboitiz Group aims to support the enterprise development program by providing a total of sixty (60) livelihood kits in the form of egg-laying machines (ELMs) to be distributed in selected camps all over the country. Each kit contains 48 heads of ready-to-lay hens, cages, feeders, drinkers, water containers, and a month’s worth of feed consumption.
Since January 2018, 52 ELM kits that have already been distributed, with the latest turnover at Camp Aquino in San Miguel, Tarlac, just this month. The last 8 kits will be turned over in February at Camp Dela Cruz in Gamu, Isabela, completing the promised number of livelihood kits.
The program, however, does not end with the kits’ distribution. Pilmico will also be providing technical assistance to the beneficiaries for capability training and monitoring. This ensures that the livelihood kits will be sustained and possibly even improved over time.
NOLCOM’s Commander expressed his words of advice towards the beneficiary soldiers and of course, to the Aboitiz Group for providing opportunities for national servants.
I urge the beneficiaries to take advantage of this rare opportunity. You have been handed the tools to ensure a brighter future for you and your families. Embrace it. Nurture it. Claim it. The fruits of your labor will tide you over in times of need. Let me commend Pilmico and Aboitiz for being in the forefront of the campaign to empower Filipinos to become more efficient, productive, and self-sufficient by sharing them with knowledge and entrepreneurial thinking.
– Lt. Gen. Emmanuel B. Salamat, NOLCOM
Pilmico, together with the Aboitiz Group and PAGKAIN para sa mga Bayani program, has shown that advancing business and communities goes beyond just our customers and their local communities. Instead, it also can be reflected on a national scale by creating livelihood opportunities for national servants and helping them sustain these by being a reliable Partner for Growth.
