Here is our first monthly record of the Aboitiz Group’s resource consumption highlights. Compared on a year-over-year basis, our power, water, and paper usage, vis-à-vis the growing demands of our operational activities, reflects our commitment to mitigate our collective impact on the environment amidst the steady growth of our businesses.
Aboitiz Business Units’ Resource Consumption
*2017 data from AboitizPower DU and UnionBank were derived by dividing full-year figures by the number of months in a year.
*Data from UnionBank is not included in the Banking unit’s Jan-Feb 2018 consumption.
*Power and Water consumption data excludes SaCaSun and some of Hedcor’s facilities. February water consumption for the Banilad corporate office is not yet included.
*Paper consumption for Power only reflects certain business units’ data. AboitizLand began reporting its paper consumption in 2018.
POWER + WATER
The uptick in Pilmico’s power and water consumption is attributable to capacity increases undertaken in 2017, while the increase in AboitizLand’ power and water consumption can be attributed to more team members now headquartered in Taguig and the start of construction for certain project sites.
Paper consumption decrease for the Food group can be attributed to the paperless drive that started in February 2017 and the business unit’s strong thrust for digitalization.
We are continually enhancing our data consolidation and strengthening oversight processes, anchored on sustainability in making our long-term decisions. Resource efficiency, among the focus areas of the Aboitiz Group’s sustainability policy, keeps us mindful of our environmental footprint while staying on track towards advancing business and communities.
