Sinsin National High School’s 43 senior high school students will gain the most out of a new vocational program turned over by Aboitiz scholars to the Cebu City school last December. This involves the construction of a chicken and quail layer house, which includes ready-to-lay poultry, and a seminar on the basics of layer management.
The concept for this agri-vocational project came from a group of enterprising Aboitiz scholars, namely Preach Hero Angeles, Michael John Arrofo, Carlo Galicia, Jamisola Jhen Gigje, Ma. Christina Llanita, Ed Carlo Maglasang, Julius Mendoza, and Jonjay Tenebro. The team partnered with Aboitiz Foundation and Pilmico to create the program to provide high school graduates with opportunities to acquire certifiable tech-vocational skills and venture into entrepreneurship.
In addition to supporting the Department of Education’s K+12 initiative, this poultry starter project aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, specifically on Quality Education (ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all).
