Aboitiz underscores Filipino cultural diversity in Mindanao book

The rich cultural heritage of the Philippines has always been a major component to instilling the love of country. Nationalism has a way of driving economic growth. It is but fitting to expand our view, as well as, deepen our knowledge of the different regional practices of fellow Filipinos. This knowledge will richly contribute to how we paint an inclusive picture of development.

Recognizing the importance of our country’s regional cultural diversity, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) in an intimate gathering had turned over 100 copies of its book titled “Muslim Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago: A Current of Narratives” to the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).  Centered around the element of water, the book narrates the flowing nature of ideas and illustrates how unique traditions have influenced commerce and the everyday lives of the people in Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago.

The turnover event was attended by AEV Chief Operating Officer Sabin M. Aboitiz and MinDA Chairperson Datu Abul Khayr Dangcal Alonto and Mrs. Bai Norhata Alonto.

I am glad the Aboitiz Group decided to honor and pay tribute to the interweaving culture of Muslim MIndanao, through the production of this coffee book.  It is timely that we highlight the different narratives of Sulu, with stories of unity, diversity and prosperity as captured in the images of this book. That despite the challenges, we can still look at the positive side of every situation and ignite earnest hope for a better tomorrow.

–Datu Abul Khayr Dangcal Alonto, Chairperson, MinDA

We share the vision of MinDA and, this is manifested through our various investments and participation in MinDA initiatives, including BIMP-EAGA (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines-East Association of Southeast Asian Nations Growth Area).
