Aboitiz volunteers reach out to fire-hit community

Fire broke out within the Navotas Fishport Complex in the wee hours of January 10, which left 1,500 families without homes and property. Most of the displaced residents moved to a makeshift shelter put up by the local social welfare office at a nearby covered court. For others, it was more important to stay behind and secure their lots, gathering what’s left of their belongings.

Two days after the blaze, some residents were already pitching tents by the road as volunteers from Aboitiz Foundation and AboitizPower arrived at the compound for a relief mission together with the local government. With staff from Congressman Tiangco’s office setting order, the team distributed The Care Package ready-to-eat high-energy biscuits and 6-liter bottles of distilled water to the affected families, a crucial item as many of them included nursing mothers and their infants.

In less than 24 hours, the group was back at the fish port for another round of aid distribution, this time at a different location within the affected community. Indeed, there is no price tag for such tenacity in helping those in need.

Thank you to our Aboitiz volunteers!
