AboitizLand Outlook 2018

Moving communities forward

Most companies would certainly begin the year with probably overused statements like “this will be a challenging year” or the like. This is understandable as every company, no matter how secure or profitable, faces obstacles most especially in today’s dynamic world. But this is how I would prompt my own view of what 2018 will demand from us at AboitizLand — we will be extremely busy across each of the industries we have chosen to focus on.

After completing the company’s transition from a Cebu-based industry player to fully establishing a new headquarters in Taguig City, AboitizLand’s presence and, more importantly, our brand promise of helping people live better lives by building deliberately designed communities, will be felt even more.

As construction of the residential and commercial projects launched in 2017 will be in full swing in both Cebu and Luzon, we will push forward with the on-time development of Cebu’s first mountain town community, Foressa Mountain Town in Balamban, Cebu, and the premium market-oriented Seafront Residences in San Juan, Batangas.

In addition to closing out our existing projects, we will be launching more residential developments in Luzon. By AboitizLand tradition, these will be highly appealing and game-changing ventures in the market that will bring our brand of nurturing communities to a whole new level.

AboitizLand fully recognizes that while it has defined itself as a formidable player in the economic landscape, there is always more to explore, more to discover, and more to do. We will continue to invest in competent people, hardware, systems, and processes for us to deliver the commitment we made to our vecinos, merchants, and locators to create a solid and significant AboitizLand.

With The Outlets at Lipa (TOL), the buzz about the country’s first authentic year-round premium discount shopping village is all over the ground and social media. A 9.3-hectare development located inside the Lima Technology Center (LTC) in Lipa-Malvar, Batangas, TOL will have almost 30,000 square meters of gross leasable space that can accommodate over 200 local and international brands. With construction well underway, TOL is set to open in the summer of 2018 and will feature global retail brands alongside an extensive variety of restaurants and food stops.

Already, the energy at LTC is highly charged with this new concept among all the other improvements we have made at the park. We trust industrial locators will similarly be looking at LTC with keen interest to be part of a sustainable zone like no other. At the same time, we will continue to strengthen our relationships with the stakeholders of our industrial communities while exploring opportunities for expansion.

Gatewalk Central, our joint venture with Ayala Land, is continuing to progress. With both partners having the same belief that we must approach this project with a long-term view, this mixed-use development will be carried out with a well thought out and focused plan for us to play better in Cebu’s exceptionally competitive market.

We may have had our share of setbacks in the previous years but we are confident that is all behind us now.

Yet, these statements tell only parts of the story. For us at AboitizLand, 2018 must be the year where we face our challenges with resilience and show that we are a strong organization with wisdom. We will play full out in our endeavor of fulfilling the promises we made for all our stakeholders. It will not be easy, but we will make it happen in the AboitizLand tradition of nurturing communities, which ultimately fulfills the Aboitiz Group’s brand promise of Advancing Business and Communities.
