AEV’s Government Relations team launched its Innovation in Governance Academy (IG Academy), a capability-building program for civil servants, through a two-day training workshop held at the Meranti Hotel in Quezon City last July 13-14, 2017. Twenty-four mid-level to senior management officials from the Office of the Cabinet Secretary (OCS) and Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) were equipped to learn the essentials of Project Management (PM).
Embracing the theme, “Continuously finding #BetterWays to be of better service to the Filipinos,” IG Academy works to promote a culture of innovation and excellence in governance and public management in order to drive change for a better Philippines, a better world.
Likewise, IG Academy is envisioned to reinforce the value of continuous learning among Government partners with the offering of bite-sized training modules on management and governance and the sharing of best practices from the private sector.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) designed and cascaded this first PM series and was facilitated by certified Project Management professionals, Pablo L. Yambot and Alan Gosiengfiao. The OCS training workshop showcased PM modules, frameworks and creative approaches that put emphasis on project initiation and planning, risk management, stakeholder involvement, and project monitoring and execution.
Break-out sessions delved on actual applications of PM concepts based on the participants’ ongoing projects. At the end of the workshop, testimonials revealed that the enhanced PM module provided them with “good balance between the lecture content and the workshop conducted enabling the participants to somehow map out and concretize learnings, which are applicable both to private and public offices,” one participant said.
IG Academy is inspired by the Group’s BetterWays Academy as it promotes among its employees opportunities to grow professionally and personally with advanced and continued learning programs.
