(APRI) with the Saringaya Special Environmental Achievement Award in recognition of the Aboitiz company’s accomplishments in its environmental protection programs.
Since 2012, APRI has received four Saringaya awards, which is an annual recognition program of DENR-V for individuals and organizations in the Bicol region who have championed environmental stewardship in their communities.
This award solidifies APRI’s efforts to protecting the environment and the communities where we operate while we remain committed to providing reliable and reasonably-priced power to the nation.
– Lino Bernardo, President & COO, APRI
The Saringaya Award is the premier award institution for the environment in the Bicol Region. It was coined from the Bicol dialect masaringaya, which means green environment, abundance, health, and balanced ecology.
Some of the significant initiatives of APRI this year include the Development of Climate-resilient Mt. Malinao Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation Project (with Bicol University College of Agriculture and Forestry), Adopt-A-River Project (with DENR-EMB V), Rain Water Collector, Vermicomposting and Nursery Facility, and APARK, a Biodiversity Enhancement Project of the Aboitiz Group.
The award ceremony was held on June 30, 2017 at Hotel St. Ellis, Legazpi City.
