Various initiatives are being carried out for the protection and conservation of the Panigan-Tamugan Watershed. The area is especially critical as it where Davao City’s water supply will be sourced through the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP).

The project’s EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor, J.V. Angeles Construction Corporation (JVACC) is spearheading one such environment-focused program, the Tamugan River Clean-Up Drive where 59 volunteers from JVACC, Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc. and the barangay participated.

Cans, bottles, cellophane, clothing, and plastic wrappers were collected during the activity held in Brgy. Tawantawan during the World Water Day last March 22. Apo Agua and its project partners, JVACC, and the Davao City Water District, as well as the City Government of Davao and the Watershed Management Council, are committed to protect and conserve the city’s next source of drinking water. The DCBWSP’s start of operations is targeted on the first half of 2021.
