APRI receives back-to-back Safety and Health Excellence Awards

APRI concluded 2017 with back-to-back awards for the successful implementation of its Health and Safety programs and attaining a zero lost time accident.

On Dec. 6, 2017, the Safety and Health Association of the Philippines Energy Sector (SHAPES) in coordination with the Department of Energy awarded APRI the 2017 Hall of Famer Award for achieving the Corporate Safety and Health Excellence Award for three consecutive years (2015-2017).

APRI received the honor during the 13th Energy Safety and Health Conference and 2017 National Energy Consciousness Month Celebration held at UP Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Meanwhile, the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI) Industrial Safety Division also presented its Excellence Award to APRI for achieving 7.9 million and 9.7 million safe man-hours without accident for its Tiwi and MakBan Geothermal Power Plants, respectively, during the 50th National Industrial Safety Convention held on November 14, 2017 at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila.

APRI’s Environment, Health, and Safety practitioners, namely Ronald Ambrocio (MakBan EHS Manager), Dennis Azarcon (MakBan Safety Supervisor), Casimiro Flores Jr. (Tiwi Safety Specialist), Jim Rey Recierdo (Tiwi EHS Manager), and Wilfredo Sarmago (Tiwi VP for Facility) were each given the SHAPES 2017 Outstanding Safety Professional Awards.

These APRI team members are instrumental in achieving a safe work environment in the organization and providing highly professionalized safety and health practices.

APRI president and COO Felino Bernardo said that safety and health have always been part of doing business and are shared responsibilities of all the team members in AboitizPower.

These awards solidify APRI’s Health and Safety leadership, employee accountability and engagement, regulatory compliance, and consistent communication within the organization.
