Host communities of AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI) continually reap their share of the company’s revenue through the Energy Regulation 1-94 (ER 1-94) funds managed by the Department of Energy (DOE).
Last April and May, representatives from APRI, DOE, and Local Government Units (LGUs) inspected 17 implemented projects in Batangas, Laguna, and Albay. The inspection is part of the project closure process which is necessary before the LGU could start working on a new project.
The projects inspected include water system, various road and canal projects, health centers, purchase of dump truck, construction of wastewater facility, Integrated Solid Waste Management Project, flood control dike, and barangay hall equipment.
Tiwi Mayor Ami Villanueva assured that the ER 1-94 fund shall be utilized based on the pressing needs of their constituents. He also revisited the ongoing proposal for the electrification of Sitios Mayharigue and Tangkoy of Barangay Misibis in Tiwi, Albay.
Under ER 1-94, energy-generating companies are mandated to remit one centavo for every kilowatt-hour of its total electricity sales to its host communities from barangay level to regional. The fund could be used to support projects such as electrification of communities that have no access to electricity, development, and livelihood, as well as reforestation, watershed management, health and environment enhancement.
“APRI is committed to realizing its promise to be the neighbor of choice to its stakeholders through CSR programs and ER 1-94, which enrich and improve the quality of their lives.”
-Felino Bernardo, President and COO, APRI
