Jojo Guingao speaks to Engineering Students on Digital Transformation

As part of our continuing drive to attract future talents and broaden our reach in the academe, Jojo Guingao and Aboitiz Group’s Talent Attraction teamed up with the Technological Institute of the Philippines last Feb. 24.

At the ECE Roadshow aptly themed “Technological Advancement through Nation Building: Breakthrough for Next Generation Engineers in the Philippines,” Jojo Guingao, First Vice President of AEV’s Digital Management, delivered a career talk to Electronics and Communications Engineering students focusing on Digital Transformation in the Philippines.

“I was looking for opportunities and fulfilment but not necessarily money. Because if you’re doing a good job and you’re really passionate about it, money will follow.”

– Jojo Guingao, First Vice President, AEV Digital Management

Leading the Aboitiz Group’s digital journey, Guingao struck an instant connection with students when he shared digital trends and the big role millennials play in this space. He referred to this generation as “digital economy enablers” who will drive innovation, dynamic competition and growth. Social media and various digital platforms disrupt ways of doing, relating, working and living. Analytics will become a driving force in business and the world economy in general.

The students asked how digital tools could shape a company’s culture.  Jojo shared his team’s initiatives in building an environment that encourages fun and innovation thru digital platforms. He also drew attention to networking – connecting with professionals and teams to acquire new skills sets and expand knowledge. Digital tools make it easier to connect, to network and to accelerate learning.

Aboitiz Group Attraction set up a booth at the college career fair, engaging engineering students to discuss career opportunities in the Aboitiz business units. Ralph Placido, Sr. Talent Attraction Officer, and Hannah Santioque, Talent Attraction Associate of AEV, led students through mock career and job interviews.

Industry-academe student organization partnerships is part of Aboitiz Group’s Future Talents Program. By amplifying our employer brand in the academe, Aboitiz Group is able to expand its reach and strengthen recruitment efforts for degreed talents in specific fields of education and practice.
