Life Sacks program brings opportunities to Tarlac co-op

Pilmico and Aboitiz Foundation turned over another livelihood assistance package under the Life Sacks Project, this time to the Moncada Women’s Credit Cooperative (MWCC) from Tarlac. An employee-driven initiative, Life Sacks has been changing lives of communities by providing an additional source of income to cooperatives through used Pilmico flour sacks that are converted into sellable recycled bags.

Jeffrey Caugiran, Pilmico Safety Manager, said the company has provided essential livelihood equipment, which include 10 sewing machines with table, chair, and sewing kits as well as 2,000 feeds sacks as start-up.

We are giving these machines to the women beneficiaries of the cooperative because we also give importance to the welfare of women and in empowering women.

The turnover ceremony was held at the MWCC Office in Poblacion 1, Moncada, Tarlac and attended by members of Pilmico Taskforce Responsibility as well as other members of the said cooperative. They are the program’s third beneficiary following the Sewers for Equity and Welfare Producers Cooperative in Taguig and the KALIPI Women’s Association in Iligan.
