Electric powered vehicles, or eShuttles, are now serving the 16,000-plus workers within the 63-hectare Mactan Economic Zone II (MEZ II) in Lapu-Lapu City.
Each 20-seater eShuttle is equipped with GPS and runs on rechargeable lithium ion batteries and are monitored in real time from a command center that optimizes all aspects of fleet management, including tracking, maintenance, and safety. Fare payment is also made convenient through reloadable prepaid cards, which passengers can purchase at designated ticketing booths.
“The eShuttle, powered by Cebuano company EzWare, is an idea whose time has come. The eShuttles are zero-emission electric vehicles that provide a cheaper and more convenient shuttle service that is available on a 24/7 basis within MEZ II,” said PEZA MEZ II Zone Manager Atty. Rufino R.Z. San Juan IV.
The MEZ II community, he added, is the first economic zone in the country to have an eco-friendly shuttle service, which further enhances MEZ II’s investor- and worker-friendly atmosphere.
The eShuttles project highlights AboitizLand’s efforts in support of the global movement of adopting eco-friendly products and sustainable solutions to reduce pollution and decrease carbon footprint.
