Paving the way for local farmers to learn about starting an agribusiness, the Pilmico Agri Food and Livelihood Expo was held last September 24 at the Provincial Government Center – Farmer’s Haven in Pagadian City with a vision rooted in the potential of backyard farming as a viable and sustainable source of income for families and communities in rural areas.
The program for the expo revolves around the objective of equipping aspiring agri-entrepreneurs with the right knowledge and tools for backyard farming and baking.
With the participation of Pilmico’s government partner, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Pilmico Agri and Livelihood Expo also assisted in the better communication of business requirements and tips on how to start a business.
Pilmico puts up events like the Pilmico Food, Agri, and Livelihood Expo to assist and build the capacity of local farming communities to manage and sustain their own businesses. We accomplish this by instilling in them an entrepreneurial mindset and equipping them with the right tools and skills for their agribusiness as reflected in our workshops and activities in the expo.

Select beneficiaries in nearby barangays were also granted livelihood kits in the form of piglets, bakery starter kits, and egg-laying machines. Each livelihood kit contains all the equipment needed by farmers to begin their business; Piglet dispersal beneficiaries are given 3 piglets with a supply of feeds good for 3 to 4 months, egg-laying machine beneficiaries are given 2 machine units with 96 ready-to-lay hens and a month’s supply of Pilmico Feeds, and lastly, bakery starter kit beneficiaries will receive an oven, stainless steel working table, bread rack, roller, bicycle/bread display, and 10 bags of flour.
Since the beginning of this program in 2014, Pilmico has already granted 1,144 heads of pigs, 447 sets of egg-laying machines, and 86 bakery starter kits to 969 beneficiaries.
The expo was tied together with exciting raffles, fun games and activities, and a special cooking demo with celebrity guest chef, Chef Boy Logro. Logro presented his take on Pinoy favorites using pork, chicken, and eggs which the attendees can also recreate at home and even market in batches for business.
Through the expo, Pilmico underlines its commitment to the local farmer as a Partner for Growth by sharing their extensive industry knowledge, practical business solutions, and quality products and services.
