After two weeks of intensive training, 17 residents of Brgy. Maa, Davao City finally received the fruit of their labor as they completed Davao Light’s Project B.E.S.T (Basic Electrician Skills Training) at a special graduation ceremony held on April 21.
Project B.E.S.T. is a community-based training program that is in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Davao City/Sur with the support of JCI Central Davao. The beneficiaries are mostly out-of-school-youths, barangay workers and community residents who are interested to become electricians.
The trainees completed the training and received a Certificate of Competency or National Certificate 2 (NC2), issued by TESDA. The graduates were all provided with starter kits that they can readily use to start their jobs as electricians.
“Davao Light’s Project B.E.S.T. will not only open a lot of opportunities for livelihood to the graduates but at the same time, will help the barangay create a pool of electricians who can help in their house wiring projects.”
