Twenty four months have passed since that eventful day in mid-September 2015 when Republic Cement first became a CRH-Aboitiz company. Since then, the organization has undergone a transformation to gear up to compete in the ever vibrant construction materials industry.

The auspicious date was celebrated in different ways across the Republic operating sites but with two things in common – there was a short program with messages from the Plant Managers, followed by refreshments. Many of the teams organized a plant favorite, a boodle fight for lunch, which was shared by Republic employees, contractors and other local stakeholders.

The team in Teresa Plant had a carnival themed celebration complete with mascots, dart throwing booths, and other playful activities. They also organized a “plant open house” to coincide with the anniversary celebration and invited senior citizens from their neighboring communities to drop by and explore the plant facilities in a tour guided by key managers of the plant.

In Norzagaray, the celebration kicked off with a fitness program, followed by a message from newly minted Plant Manager Jimmy Torres and was made even more special as it coincided with the visit of Republic Cement’s new CEO Nabil Francis.

The festivities in Batangas Plant coincided with the kick-off of their month-long celebration of the plant’s and Fortune brand’s golden anniversary. The Team commemorated their dual milestones with a colorful unity walk around Taysan town which was followed by a short program that was capped by a ceremony where employees wrote on a large board their commitment to contribute more for the betterment of the plant’s operations.

Down south, both the Danao and Iligan Teams hosted a boodle fight and later in the day celebrated with a palaro ng bayan where employees and contractors, both young and old, juniors and seniors, played against each other in games reminiscent of their more youthful selves.

While the celebrations have been fun and gay events, the past two years have truly been a transformative period for the Republic Team. Now, more than ever, they are ready to face the challenges of the future.
