For Pilmico, the gamefowl industry is more than just about entertainment and the thrill of the game. At the Salto Breeders’ Benefit Sabong (SBBS), for example, a portion of the funds raised from the event will be used for education or livelihood assistance to selected beneficiaries.
The SBBS is a yearly event that gathers cockfighting and gamefowl enthusiasts from all over the country to participate in the matches as a way to support the education of chosen beneficiaries.
The event has made stops in key locations throughout the country including Davao, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Bulacan, Cebu, Bayugan, Dipolog, Zamboanga, Ilocos, and Parañaque. For each location, identified beneficiaries are given support in the form of educational or livelihood assistance and this year, a total of PHP200,000 has been allocated.
The SBBS has been generating support for chosen beneficiaries all over the Philippines for the past five years. This year, the event was held at the New Davao Matina in Davao City last April 6.
Not just for sport, the gamefowl industry is recognized by Pilmico as an avenue to promote sustainable livelihoods. Through events like the Salto Breeders Benefit Sabong, Pilmico underlines their promise to be a Partner in Production for local gamefowl breeders and enthusiasts all over the country.
