Seventh pawikan nest uncovered at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park!

In celebration of the National Clean-up Day in September, the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park was opened to different organizations from the government, private, and youth sectors, who joined the event by planting mangrove propagules and doing coastal clean-up activities. More than a hundred joined the event.

One of the hightlights of the National Clean-up Day celebration was the warm welcome of the pawikan eggs during today’s validation of Nest number 7 for the current year, which was discovered on Sept. 14, 2017.
Based on the number of days tracked from the discovery of Nest number 6, this new nest is believed to be from a different mother pawikan. The Park expects to find additional nests in the coming weeks.
The fifth and sixth nests were discovered in July and August, respectively. The nests are expected to hatch following 50 to 60 days of incubation.

The Cleanergy Park is a project of Davao Light, a subsidiary of AboitizPower, in partnership with Aboitiz Foundation. It is a biodiversity park that aims to preserve the pawikan nesting grounds, be a home of many thriving bird species and help maintain ecological balance for other sea and land creatures. Davao Light together with the Aboitiz Foundation will remain committed in carrying out its campaign for the conservation of this pawikan sanctuary for a better world.
