Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) was recently awarded the Brand Technology Leadership Award at the 2018 Philippines Best Brand Awards.
The Philippines Best Brand Awards is an annual ceremony that aims to honor organizations, teams, and individuals that have implemented innovative brand building and brand marketing strategies and practices in the past year. The awardees are identified based on a number of factors, including financial valuation and consumer preference, among others. The awards ceremony is organized annually by the founders of World CSR Day.
Receiving the award last June 8 at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel in Makati City was UnionBank Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Technology & Operations Officer, and Chief Transformation Officer Henry Aguda, who thanked UnionBank’s employees for enabling the bank to become a leader in banking and finance technology in the Philippines. Aguda then assured that the bank will continue to work towards the full realization of its digital transformation mandate as a way to enable inclusive prosperity for all Filipinos.
“This recognition encourages us at UnionBank to continue our advocacy of enabling financial inclusion through the use of technology, which is in line with our Tech-Up mission, and we promise to continue pursuing greater heights in this regard.”
-Henry Aguda, Chief Technology & Operations Officer, and Chief Transformation Officer, UnionBank
In 2016, UnionBank embarked on a journey toward full digitization with the aim of future-proofing its technology, infrastructures, and processes, which will in turn allow it to create bigger positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities it serves and enable inclusive prosperity in the country.
As a leader in banking and finance technology in the country, the company boasts of being a “bank of firsts.” Among these achievements is being the pioneer of “Selfie Banking” in Asia through its digital banking service EON. UnionBank is also the first to establish a fully digital and paperless banking branch called The ARK, and the first and only banking partner of Visa in the Philippines to conduct successful test transactions using the latter’s blockchain-based cross-border payments service B2B Connect.
