UnionBank is BAIPHIL’s bank champion in digital financial inclusion

UnionBank has been awarded as the country’s bank champion in digital financial inclusion by the Bankers Institute of the Philippines during the 30th BAIPHIL Convention held at Baguio Country Club recently.

UnionBank was recognized primarily for using technology to offer or deliver traditional or new bank products and services, thereby reaching new markets especially those unserved or underserved; and for being an inspiration to other institutions to conduct the same projects.

Relentless in its pursuit to become a digital bank, UnionBank has a game-changing initiative called TechUp Pilipinas that aims to harness technology to push for financial inclusion, especially among the almost 53 million unbanked Filipinos.

Among the company’s initiatives under its TechUp Pilipinas advocacy are UnionBank GlobalLinker, a digital platform that makes doing business easier for small business owners and entrepreneurs; Project i2i, which connects rural banks to each other and to UnionBank’s full-function universal bank services and platforms; UnionBank Business Banking, a fully mobile, full-function online banking facility for corporate clients; and XLOG, a co-created, GPS-enabled online platform that helps small and medium-sized businesses directly link up with global shipping and logistics providers for faster and more cost-effective booking, end-to-end shipment monitoring, and document sharing.

With a revitalized mission to co-create innovation for a better world, President and CEO Edwin Bautista said UnionBank is committed to transforming the Philippines.

“As a banking institution, our purpose is to elevate lives. We are determined to bring out the maximum potential of the Philippines, and we will make sure that no Filipino will be left behind,” Bautista said.
