UnionBank Batangas Branch earns LEED Gold Certification

UnionBank Sustainability Team | Sept. 26, 2017

UnionBank continues to integrate environmental sustainability into its operations with the recent LEED® Gold certification of its Batangas Branch.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

UnionBank Batangas Branch achieved LEED Gold certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. It is the fourth LEED-certified branch of UnionBank to date.

“UnionBank Batangas Branch Officers and staff are proud of this recognition,” Branch Manager Edna T. Reyes said. She believes that operating a LEED-certified branch helps them lower their operating cost, promotes a healthier indoor environment for employees and clients, and enables energy and water efficiency. “This encourages us to be more productive and engaged in our work,” she added.

“The work of innovative building projects such as UnionBank’s Batangas Branch is a fundamental driving force in transforming the way buildings are designed, built, and operated,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO, USGBC. “Buildings that achieve LEED certification are lowering carbon emissions, creating a healthier environment, and reducing operating costs.”

Empowered to advance businesses and communities by practicing sustainable operations, UnionBank looks forward to the certification of its other ongoing LEED projects in the future.
