UnionBank GlobalLinker flies out biz owners to Singapore SME meetup

UnionBank PR Team | November 15, 2018

In a bid to empower businesses that constitute 99% of Philippine establishments, UnionBank GlobalLinker flew 25 micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) to Singapore for a global networking opportunity coinciding with the Singapore Fintech Festival, which took place from November 13 to 17.

The trip—that included return airfare tickets and three-night hotel accommodation—was the raffle prize from a promotion from UnionBank GlobalLinker, UnionBank’s free digital platform for MSMEs. It also gave the winners free passes to the Singapore Trade Connect Cross-Border Trade and Learning Meet Up on November 14, a global forum of in-depth learning sessions on digitization and cross-border trade.

Most of the news we hear is about the large corporations, about government and politics. But clearly, the backbone of any economy of any society are the entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized business owners. And that’s what inspires me to go to these ecosystem-building activities that we do.

JAO was also among the conference speakers and gave a talk on “Fintech for Financial Inclusion”.

According to UnionBank Vice President Dino Velasco, UnionBank is redefining its role as a financial institution so that it can provide MSMEs with other essential resources to succeed, including digital tools and knowledge-building activities.

As one of the important drivers of innovation, growth, and development of the country, MSMEs need tools and expertise that will help them succeed amidst constant shifts in the digital landscape. At the Singapore Trade Connect, entrepreneurs can have a unique opportunity to learn from business leaders who leveraged digital for business growth.

Aside from understanding digital technology, going to Singapore Trade Connect helps entrepreneurs establish strategic relations to make their businesses globally competitive.

Likewise, entries are received by taking up special deals from the Biz Offers section and building an e-commerce site using the LINKER.store feature.

The promo period ran until Oct. 30, 2018. Winners were notified via email, SMS, UnionBank GlobalLinker, and UnionBank’s social networking sites.
