UnionBank Tacloban branch LEEDing the way to sustainable banking

Along with the distinction of being the first bank to restore operations after Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, UnionBank Tacloban scored another first by being the first Bank branch to earn a LEED Gold Certification. The Tacloban branch is also the only LEED-certified project in the Eastern Visayas region.

Awarded by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) is an internationally recognized symbol of excellence that promotes healthy, durable, affordable, and environmentally friendly practices in building design and construction.

In upholding the Bank’s efforts to achieve sustainable banking, the following measures have been put in place: water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, site sustainability, energy and atmosphere, and materials and resources.
