UREKA Forum inks pact with DTI-PTTC to help MSMEs

Union Bank of the Philippines’ UREKA Forum continues to forge agreements with various agencies in support of the government’s target to bring 100,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into e-commerce by 2020.

UREKA Forum – UnionBank’s premier corporate social responsibility project – recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Philippine Trade Training Center, an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) mandated, among others, to promote and develop MSMEs in the country.

UREKA Forum and PTTC agreed to bring together their capabilities and resources and train MSMEs on the basics of e-commerce in line with the celebration of SME Week 2017 last July and in support of the government’s E-Commerce Roadmap.

During the SME Week, UREKA conducted a mini-forum on e-commerce and helped MSMEs convert their brick-and-mortar business model into brick-and-click.

The UREKA Forum has become the country’s biggest e-commerce mass conversion program after activating 1,500 MSMEs into digital commerce.

The Forum also has an E-Cadets Program which aims to educate college students on e-commerce and digital marketing via hands-on training.

To date, the Forum has activated a total of 848 E-Cadets.

UREKA consortium partners include Air21, AMTI, DragonPay, PLDT, Shopinas, Esquire Financing, Facebook, Microsoft, Taxumo, Panahon TV, DTI and the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
