True to its promise to push for financial and digital literacy for an inclusive economy, the UREKA Forum on March 30 joined in the celebration of Women’s Month by orienting enterprising mothers on the opportunities of e-commerce.
In a workshop held at the Ahon sa Hirap Inc. (ASHI) training office in Cubao, Quezon City, facilitated by UREKA ambassador Eireen Diokno Bernardo, 30 women who came as far as Quezon province and who brought with them their sample goods, learned how to promote their products by using a short video advertisement. UnionBank Vice President and UREKA executive director James Morris Ileto encouraged the participants to maximize the potential of e-commerce as a vehicle to empower their business and to rise above all forms of poverty.
The UREKA Forum, made possible by UnionBank and its consortium partners, has expanded its goal from “mass converting SMEs to e-commerce” to ensuring their “mass success” in the digital marketplace. This supports the government’s 2020 E-commerce Roadmap as initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry.
