VECO upgrades electrical system of Consolacion Public Market

In an effort to make public areas safer, the Visayan Electric Co. Inc. (VECO) upgraded the electrical wiring system at the Consolacion Public Market.

VECO turned over the wiring system upgrade project to Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado on Dec. 16. Alegado expressed her appreciation to the continuous assistance of VECO in the development needs of the municipality.

VECO Reputation Enhancement Department Manager Eric Ching said that the power distribution company’s rewiring project aims to provide safe standard electrical wirings to protect its host communities from incidence of fire due to faulty wiring.

Aside from upgrading the electrical lines of the public market, VECO also installed energy-saving light bulbs that not only give better lighting, but also minimize electric consumption. The newly installed light bulbs have an automatic timer switch, which will turn on at 6 p.m. and turn off at 5 a.m.

The upgrading of the electrical system benefitted a total of 230 stalls inside the Consolacion Public Market. Since 2010, VECO has been upgrading the electrical wiring systems of public schools, police station and public markets within its franchise area.
