Weather Wizards on air: The first step to becoming #WeatherWiser

Recently, WeatherPhilippines’ Meteorology Team went live as featured guests in DZIQ 990’s Ladies Talk program to talk about the foundation’s #WeatherWiser campaign. Senior Typhoon Specialist Michael David Padua, together with Junior Typhoon Specialist Adonis Manzan and Junior Meteorologist John Christian Lequiron, were interviewed by Ladies Talk anchor Marilyn Montaño.

During the interview, the Meteorology team discussed basic weather terminologies and concepts, as well as the upcoming rainy season. According the team, they are still monitoring the onset of the rainy season based on a specific set of metrics set by the Philippines Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Aside from this, they also enlightened their listeners about the differences between several typhoon classifications and terminologies such as tropical cyclones, Low Pressure Areas (LPAs), tropical depressions, among others.

The team encouraged everyone to use the available weather tools, especially those provided by WeatherPhilippines such as the mobile application and the different weather models available in the website. They reiterated the importance of staying ahead of the weather.

With WeatherPhilippines’ recent improvements in its system, provision of highly localized weather information has made it possible for users to track the day-to-day weather conditions in their area. According to the Meteorology team, always getting hold of the basic weather information is the first step to creating a #WeatherWiser nation.
