AboitizPower Grants Engineering Scholarships In Bataan
I’m particularly proud of what they’ve done in AboitizPower North Luzon for supporting more than 200 scholars so far. But these aren’t just numbers on a page, these are stories of transformation.

AboitizPower signed a five-year memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Provincial Government of Bataan to provide scholarships for students taking engineering, a course deemed vital to the development of infrastructure and technology in the province.
Under the agreement, AboitizPower, through GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), will set up an educational assistance fund, contributing two million pesos annually over five years starting this April for a total value of P10 million. The fund will support 200 students from Bataan Peninsula State University Main Campus and Polytechnic University of the Philippines Mariveles.
"We express our deepest gratitude to AboitizPower for their unwavering partnership with our Provincial Government,” said Bataan Governor Joet Garcia in the vernacular. “Through their support, we are getting closer to our dream of building a strong, capable, and progressive Bataeño family—with quality education as the foundation for a brighter future."
“Our advocacy in education is not new. I’m particularly proud of what they’ve done in AboitizPower North Luzon for supporting more than 200 scholars so far,” explained AboitizPower Transition Business Group COO Celso Caballero. “But these aren’t just numbers on a page, these are stories of transformation. We’ve witnessed firsthand the immense pride, the profound impact of investing in education.”

GMEC and GNPD have supported a total of 206 scholars in the two institutions, 50 of whom have already graduated. GMEC initiated the scholarship program in 2015, while GNPD joined the partnership in 2023. The recent MOA signing grants a new batch of 200 recipients in addition to the existing scholars.
The scholarship program falls under GMEC and GNPD’s broader P.R.O.G.R.E.S.S. program, specifically aligned with the “E” component, which stands for Elevate Educational Opportunities. It is also part of the province’s expanded “Iskolar ng Bayan” program, which aims to provide opportunities to deserving students.
“Malaking tulong po sa akin yung ‘Iskolar ng Bataan’ kasi natutugunan niya po yung mga tustusin ko since I have a solo parent po. Kaya hindi ko na po kailangan manghingi sa magulang ko, atsaka hindi na po niya kailangan intindihin yung ibang pangangailangan ko,” shared Rainiel Salandanan, a student and scholar from the Bataan Peninsula State University. (The 'Iskolar ng Bataan' program is a big help for me because it supports my expenses, especially since I’m raised by a solo parent. I no longer need to ask my parent for money, no longer having to worry about my other needs).
