SMA Message: Typhoon Odette #OneAboitiz Response
December 18, 2021
Dear Fellow Team Members,
Yesterday, Cebu and other areas in Visayas and Mindanao were severely devastated by Typhoon Odette, the strongest storm to make landfall in the Philippines this year. Much damage was done and many lives were seriously affected. In light of this critical situation, I would like to reach out to all our team members and assure you that our Group's response is to help in every way we can now and in the future when we rebuild.
As always, your safety continues to be our number one priority. We have activated our call tree and are already identifying who have been affected, in order to provide immediate calamity assistance, calamity leave, and emergency loans. In addition, the end-of-year salaries for affected team members will be released early in order to provide much-needed financial support for families.
Odette left Cebu without power and AboitizPower is working round the clock to restore it. They have energized the Cebu Private Power Corporation (CPPC) operated oil-fired power plant located in Cebu City, which has the capability to deliver power directly to Visayan Electric customers. Four CPPC power generator units started delivering 18 MW of power supply to Visayan Electric on Sunday morning, providing much-needed electricity starting with priority areas like hospitals, government facilities, and the Metro Cebu Water District pumping stations. CPPC expects more of its power generator units to operate in the next 24 hours, aiming to double output to 36 MW.

AboitizPower continues to mobilize its field teams from Davao Light, Subic EnerZone, and Cotabato Light to accelerate power restoration and relief operations activities in affected areas.
UnionBank continues to provide essential customer service despite disruption by having the only functioning ATMs in Cebu right now. Tomorrow, Monday, 20 of its branches will already be open and ready to serve the public.
In addition, we immediately opened several avenues for aid and emergency relief efforts. Aboitiz Foundation is conducting extensive relief operations through donation drives and the distribution of basic food packages to affected team members.
I ask all of you to stay vigilant and safe during this time of emergency, as Group HR continues to release advisories on the situation to keep us all updated. Let's continue to pray for all those affected, and work together as #OneAboitiz to uplift our team members and communities from this unfortunate situation.
