UBX took center stage at UnionBank Plaza in Pasig last June 19th, hosting the SuperDuperCon (SDC) townhall. Aboitiz Group President & CEO, Sabin M. Aboitiz (SMA) kicked off the event with a keynote inspired by Alan Watkins' book, Coherence. His talk focused on the power of achieving balance between mind, body, and spirit to unlock the full potential of the Group's employees. He also emphasized the importance of maturity, fostering self-regulation, resilience, and openness within the workforce.

“True growth comes from within, from realizing that our strength lies not in what we've accomplished but in who we become along the way,” SMA explained.

GT Storytellers Take Center Stage

Inspiration filled the air as GT Storytellers shared their journeys. These Aboitiz Group champions embodied the company's Great Transformation Vision (GT2025) and A+10 behaviors through their personal experiences.

Raia Quitoriano, a UBX Tech Lead, captivated the audience with her remarkable transformation from chemistry graduate, to sales agent, to freelance writer and ultimately, a tech developer.

UBX Head of Technology Delivery, James Aguilar and UnionBank Senior Product Manager and Head of Special Government Projects, Yogee Mann personified synergy through their successful collaboration.  They spearheaded the digitization of the BIR with innovative new systems developed by UBX.

Synergy at the UBX Super Fair

The excitement continued with a vibrant "Super Fair'' showcasing products and services from various Aboitiz units like Coca-Cola, UnionBank, AboitizLand, Maxime, The Good Meat, Solviva Energy, and CashBux. This display highlighted the Group's collaborative spirit, brand loyalty, and commitment to delivering exceptional value across diverse industries.

Taking the helm solidified UBX as a key player in the Aboitiz Group, showcasing our pioneering spirit as the first banking subsidiary to host the event. But it wasn't just about UBX. The event fostered collaboration, strengthening relationships with decision-makers, and unlocking potential partnerships. Hosting SuperDuperCon symbolized UBX's unwavering commitment to the Great Transformation Vision, aligning with the Group's techglomerate goals.

UBX Steps into the Techglomerate Spotlight

SuperDuperCon served as a launchpad for UBX, offering a multitude of benefits. The event reintroduced UBX to the broader Aboitiz Group while deepening employee understanding of UBX's role within the organization as well the Group’s overall vision which is The Great Transformation (GT2025).  Additionally, the event culminated in a rare chance for everyone to interact directly with the Aboitiz Group CEO, Sabin Aboitiz and the UnionBank President and CEO, Edwin R. Bautista.

John Januszcak, President and CEO of UBX, highlighted the unique position of UBX within the  Group: “Because of UBX’s ability to take an idea and develop a digital venture to the point of product-market fit, revenue, and traction, UBX is in a unique position to enable all strategic business units in the Aboitiz Group as we jointly establish Aboitiz as the first techglomerate in the Philippines.”

Edwin emphasized UBX's potential for commercialization: “UBX is better positioned to commercialize because nothing can stop UBX from having a platform that sells everything.”

Meanwhile, SMA was all praises for the tech-driven startup culture on display by the UBXers and the unique perspectives and questions they shared during the townhall.

“UBX’s cutting-edge digital platforms are one of the big drivers of the Great Transformation," he acknowledged. We hope they will be a spark for the techglomerate thinking within the Group.”
