Innovation plays a very important role in how Aboitiz is building an innovative, agile, and entrepreneurial environment that aims to change the mindset and behaviors of team members. Overall, we aim to  improve the way we deliver value. It is one of the core values that guide us to achieve our purpose of advancing business and communities.

With the Great Transformation, Aboitiz aims to put innovation as a driving force that will bring team members and business units forward to a modern and transformative future — by focusing on “high-potential growth initiatives”, “renewed entrepreneurial mindset”, and continuous investment in the “hypergrowth” it will help us enable to create an inclusive work environment gearing up to thrive in a new business landscape.

With this ambition in mind, the innovation working group laid the foundation of the four types of innovation as common language within the organization to help us paint a picture on how we align with the Great Transformation. Three types fall under the category “Incremental Innovation”. They are workplace, process and product innovation. The other category is “Transformational Innovation”.

Workplace Innovation

• A simple workplace improvement that has direct impact and value on the things that a team member is doing in his or her function or within his/her team. This innovation relates to just-do-it type of initiatives that do not require significant change of process.

• This aims to improve the way how our services are created and delivered to our stakeholders. This innovation is about creating and improving our processes and introducing new ways of doing things. This innovation may relate to cost savings and the goal ultimately is to improve efficiency that creates value to the business and our customers.

• Product innovation is about improving our existing products or creating a better version of our offering  to our customers. It could mean newly commercialized products or goods and services which are new to the company and have technically new features.
