Aboitiz Construction joins the Philippine Overseas Construction Board (POCB) in its European mission, which kicked off at Munich Germany on April 4 in time for the opening of bauma, the world’s largest trade show for the construction industry. Participating in the roadshow provided an opportunity to explore potential partnerships for business growth as well as engage with the movers and shakers of the global construction industry.
Aboitiz Construction President and COO Albert Ignacio is one of the country delegates who participated in the roadshow that was led by the Department of Trade and Industry and the POCB.
Interacting with industry players and learning from the latest invention and technology are the key objectives of the company’s roadshow participation, especially today when we are on the path to grow the business, build workforce capability and quality, and enhance execution with discipline and excellence.
– Albert Ignacio, Jr., President and COO, Aboitiz Construction, Inc.
Albert Ignacio, Jr. said that bauma is a global driving force behind innovation and the the only trade fair in the world that brings together the industry for construction machinery in its entire breadth and depth. At bauma, you experience the entire industry in one place at a global level. This means a complete overview of the construction, building materials and mining machinery industry. It provides access to existing and new markets as well as products and new construction technologies. The venue also provides contacts with experts and prospective clients. To be present at bauma means to have access to all markets, to all target groups, to all decision-makers.
At bauma, Aboitiz Construction First Vice President for Operations Jonathan Bendebel and Vice President for Operations Alex Garciano were awed by the new technology and massive equipment that are changing the way we build structures.
The POCB fielded Aboitiz Construction together with local construction companies in what is deemed to be a concerted effort to showcase what the Filipino industry can offer while exchanging ideas with international contractors.
One of the highglights of the roadshow was the visit to one of the training centers operated by the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag (DIHK) or the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry. DIHK is the central organization for 79 Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Germany. Thus, the DIHK speaks for more than three million entrepreneurs. They include not only big companies but also retailers and innkeepers. This gives the association considerable political and commercial influence.
Created by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1167, the POCB promotes the interests of the Philippine construction industry in overseas markets to increase and sustain the export of Philippine-made construction materials and equipment, and technical, managerial, and highly professional construction services. The Philippine Overseas Construction Board formulates strategies and programs to develop and regulate the Philippine overseas construction industry.
