Aboitiz Group’s Aid To Typhoon-Hit Areas Continues

The Aboitiz Group is continuously mobilizing relief operations in areas heavily hit by back-to-back typhoons Ulysses and Rolly, both triggering massive flooding in several areas particularly in Metro Manila and Cagayan Valley and the Bicol region, respectively.

Last November 15, Aboitiz Foundation, together with the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF), turned over drinking water, relief packs, and 1,000 sleeping kits to affected families in Marikina and Rodriguez, Rizal. Rodriguez Mayor Tom Hernandez personally accepted the donations and expressed his gratitude towards the foundations that collaborated and extended immediate support.

“Maraming salamat po sa mga foundation na tumulong sa bayan ng Montalban. Maraming salamat po, napakalaking bagay po ang itinulong ninyo sa bayan ng Montalban. (Thank you to all the foundations that helped the town of Montalban),” Mayor Hernandez said.

Aboitiz Foundation President and COO Maribeth L. Marasigan, concurrently the LCF Chair, said the League’s members immediately mobilized and released a call for donations through its Committee on Disaster Resilience when Typhoon Ulysses hit.

“We are very happy that over ten member organizations stepped in the frontline in the middle of the calamity, and worked together to send-in kind donations to heavily affected communities in Marikina and Rizal,” she said.

Medicines worth PHP1.2 million have also been purchased by Aboitiz Foundation for distribution to Cagayan Isabela, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya. Apart from this, the Foundation also earmarked PHP1.5 million to purchase roof construction materials for the typhoon-affected families that lost their houses in various municipalities in Albay.

AboitizPower subsidiary and renewable energy provider SN Aboitiz Power is currently distributing PHP3.5 million worth of relief packs in Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Cagayan.

Pilmico also contributed additional relief packs for distribution in Quezon and Camarines Norte for the benefit of around 600 families.

Aboitiz Foundation immediately set up donation pages in its crowdsourcing platform ‘KINDer by Aboitiz’ to raise additional funds to enable continuous flow of relief goods to the affected areas.

Call for Donations: Help #UlyssesPH Affected Families (click this link to donate) aims to use culled funds to provide food packs, hygiene kits, and shelter repair kits to affected families in Cagayan, Isabela, and Rizal Province.

“While the local governments are continuously doing their rescue efforts, the affected families are in dire need of assistance to get through their situation. They are in need of food, clothing, water, medicines and other basic necessities that will sustain them while in evacuation centers,” the KINDer page reads.

Meanwhile, Project Rebuild (click this link to donate) focuses on providing shelter repair kits to around 100 families with damaged houses in Albay due to Typhoon Rolly to bring back some sense of normalcy in their lives. To donate through KINDer, please visit aboitiz.kinder.com.
