UnionBank’s Selyado 3.0 Unlocks Safe And Secure New Year

Union Bank of the Philippines’ Data Privacy and Information Security Offices recently held its annual awareness campaign named Selyado. For its first two years, the event was held the UnionBank Plaza but, this time, it was entirely virtual, a clear testament on how rallying about data privacy and security as the group’s mission knows no bounds.

Selyado 3.0 – Unlock the Year Safe and Secure is a two-month program with learning sessions every Wednesday. It is the Bank’s annual awareness campaign for employees and partners to promote the principles of accountability on data protection and cybersecurity. The event kick-off happened last January 27 – in celebration of International Data Privacy Day.

The online event focused on topics that revolve around data privacy and security in a remote setup. It also showcased how digital transformation through Data Science and Artificial Intelligence can fundamentally orchestrate the prevention of cyber and financial crimes to comply with banking laws and other pertinent regulations.

Each session had approximately 200 attendees from UnionBank, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, and other subsidiary banks. Some sessions were attended by students and partners who supported the event. The learning sessions were conducted by subject matter experts in their field.

The learning sessions covered were:

  • January 27 – Ethics in Artificial Intelligence by Dr. Lachlan McCalman, Chief Practitioner from Gradient Institute
  • February 3 – Digital Shopping in the Time of Scams and Phishing by Aldwin Balahadia, Head of Anti Financial Crimes and Cyber Security Unit of UnionBank
  • February 10 – Data Lifecycle: Know Your Business Through the Lens of Privacy and Data, Maria Francesca Montes, Head of AI and Data Policy, Data Protection Officer of UnionBank
  • February 17 – Arbitration in Technology, Atty. Ian Malilong, Partner at Solid Medina Fajardo and Malilong Law Offices
  • February 24 – Digital Footprints: Knowing and Securing Your Trails by Mon Nunez, Director of Digital Forensics and Incident Response of Red Rock IT Security

March 3 – Intellectual Property and Open Source Software: Issues and Solutions by Atty. Darwin Angeles, Senior Associate in MOSVELDTT Law

March 10 – A Brief Knowledge Sharing of Network Security Framework by Junrui Hong, Senior Product Manager of Huawei

March 17 – Data Sharing: Getting our House in Order by Anand Ramamoorthy, Director and Head of Data Governance and Data Security of Informatica
