RAISING THE BAR: Aboitiz X Integrated System (AXIS)

AXIS or Aboitiz X Integrated System is a project and financial management platform designed to handle the CSR initiatives of the Aboitiz Foundation and the different business units across the Aboitiz Group. AXIS addresses necessary improvements on the previous AFI system, ACROSS. It is a great example of how AFI embodies REMIX, by automating transactions to deliver results faster, and with greater efficiency and accuracy.

Despite the reorganization that greatly reduced the core team, the system administrator left behind was aided by essential team members,  and successfully continued and implemented AXIS.  Currently, the development team has been able to deliver 8 major AXIS modules and 9 sub-modules that cover end-to-end project management including proposal submission, documentation, fund requests, and change requests on project components.

Currently, the project is on Phase 4 of the development aiming to complete the delivery of modules such as admin expense and donation management, project reversal or closure, and report generation, among others. In the pipeline as well as the integration of fund requests across all Aboitiz business units for greater visibility and alignment in the ABC Map, a collaborative map of initiatives designed by Aboitiz Power.

In the creation of AXIS, the project team learned the significance of customer-centered software and its encompassing benefits.  Constant feedback from users and iteration was integral to its success.  

We have to include process owners and users in the development process in creating the business requirements for the system and ensure that systems are continuously iterated so that the features remain relevant to user needs.
