Aboitiz Group projects win big at LCF CSR Guild Awards 2019

The Aboitiz Group’s agriculture and entrepreneurship program in Marawi City was recognized at the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) LCF CSR Guild Awards 2019. Aboitiz Foundation took home the Outstanding CSR Project Award in Enterprise Development category for its Agri-Preneurship (agriculture-entrepreneurship) Project for Marawi Internally Displaced People (IDPs).

The first ever LCF CSR Guild Awards is a recognition program of LCF. It is a seal of excellence in corporate citizenship given to the most reputable and premier organizations that are implementing social good initiatives with a meaningful and sustainable impact to the communities and institutions they assist.

The Marawi rehabilitation-focused initiative is a three-year project implemented in partnership with Go Negosyo, Pilmico, and partners Jardine Distribution, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Agriculture (DA). This project aims to transform IDPs into farmer entrepreneurs, empowering them to manage and operate a viable, competitive, and resilient agri-business.

The Aboitiz Group’s ‘Agri-Preneurship Project for Marawi Internally Displaced People (IDPs)’ was heralded as the Outstanding CSR Project in Enterprise Development category during the LCF CSR Guild Awards 2019. Four other Aboitiz programs were finalists in different categories: Noble Bakers Project and Mahalin Pagkaing Atin (Finalists, Outstanding CSR Project in Enterprise Development Program Category), A-Park (Finalist, Outstanding CSR Project in Environment Program Category), and Building a #WeatherWiser Nation through Multi-Sectoral Approach (Finalist, Outstanding CSR Collaboration Project Category).

“Saying that we are proud of what we do is an understatement. We, together with our partners, put our hearts into our work to live by the Aboitiz values of integrity, teamwork, innovation, and responsibility. This recognition inspires us to go further in creating long-term value for our stakeholders,” added Marasigan. 

Four other Aboitiz CSR projects were likewise recognized as finalists in different categories.

These were the Aboitiz Group’s Noble Bakers Project: Bakery Management Training and Equipment Donation, which aims to empower wounded and retiring soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to become productive citizens; Pilmico’s Mahalin Pagkaing Atin, a joint livelihood project with the Aboitiz Foundation; A-Park, the Aboitiz Group’s flagship nationwide reforestation initiative that targets to plant 9 million trees by 2020; and the  #WeatherWiser Nation Campaign of the WeatherPhilippines Foundation (a partnership between the Aboitiz Foundation and UnionBank), which offers a multi-sectoral approach in building disaster resilience  among its supported communities all over the Philippines.

LCF is a network of 95 of the largest operating and grant-making corporate foundations and corporations practicing CSR in the Philippines. Since it was founded in 1991, it has continuously become the torchbearer in promoting and enhancing CSR practices among its members and the larger business community in the country.
