A-Bowlers strike once again! As they say, bowling is fun if you are playing with your close friends and colleagues, but, this time, A-Bowlers did it with an additional spin on the ball – bowling for a cause.
Being one of the newest clubs in town, the A-Bowlers was able to gather all bowling fanatics across the Aboitiz Group, not to compete with one another, but to enjoy in the name of the sports and the value of responsibility.

The A-Bowler’s Club organized its first inter-business unit (BU) tournament entitled “Bowl for a Cause” on August 17, 2019 at Superbowl Bowling Center, Makati Cinema Square, Pasong Tamo, Makati City.
The different BUs were well represented by the 20 participating teams (namely Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc., AboitizPower, AboitizLand, PetNet, Pilmico Foods Corporation, Republic Cement, and UnionBank) composed of 4-5 persons per team. The first two games were positioning games, then the teams separated into two groups – Group A for the top 10 teams and Group B for the lower half teams.

From there, teams competed with each other based on the most number of pinfalls. The top three teams from each group were awarded as the Champions, 1st Runners-up, and 2nd Runners-up of their respective group, with the champions of Group A as the Overall Champion of the tournament. Teams who won received medals.
Aside from the team awards, outstanding bowlers were recognized through the awarding of the male and female bowlers with the Highest Series and Highest Game. They also received medals and cash prizes.

There were also in-game and door prizes throughout the tournament such as 3 consecutive strikes, 4 consecutive spares, players who will have 77, 88, 99 and 111 in any frame, and split conversion. Bowlers aim hard for them to get the most coveted prize – YOLO!
Everyone went home with more than just smiles on their faces. They also brought with them laughter, memories, and fulfillment that the event has brought. Through the tournament, A-Bowlers raised a total of P 45,912.00 which was collected from registration fees, shirt sales, and sponsorships. The proceeds were then donated to Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. for the annual Christmas Outreach program – talk about having fun and giving back at the same time!
The event was truly a success because it exceeded not only fundraising targets, but also team member engagement.

It was a great avenue to meet other team members in the group, and practice our values of responsibility, integrity, and teamwork, that the participants were already looking forward to the next tournament.
A-Bowlers were grateful for the participation of our A-People and also with generosity extended by the tournament sponsors. A-Bowlers invited everyone to join, spare their time and strike your A-game. Till the next tournament, guts or gutter, for fun and for a cause!
