UnionBank President and COO Edwin Bautista has been named CEO, replacing Justo Ortiz, who is set to step down from his role in January 2018 after having served as the Bank’s chief executive for 24 years.
Bautista, who was appointed to his current role in January 2016, has a superior track record in banking, spanning 25 years of experience.
He joined UnionBank in 1997 as senior vice president and served as president of IBank in 2006, which was acquired by UnionBank, until its merger. Prior to joining UnionBank, Bautista headed Citibank Philippine’s Global Transaction Services Group. Bautista also worked for Procter & Gamble Philippines.

Ortiz, who was appointed CEO in 1993, will continue to serve as Board Chairman of UnionBank. He was co-author of the Bank’s major strategic development plans. He steered the bank to new heights, capitalizing on technology and carving out targeted markets.
