Aboitiz Construction (ACI) recently visited two large companies in China to explore business opportunities to partner for power projects, as well as other infrastructure projects in the Philippines under the Build, Build, Build Program of the government. The team toured the offices of Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation III (SEPCO3) and Dongfang Electric Company (DEC), located in Chengdu and Qingdao, respectively.
SEPCO3 is a Chinese construction and engineering company that designs, builds, operates, and owns power plants. The company offers the construction of power plants through the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) method on a turnkey lump sum basis. Moreover, SEPCO3 also offers the development of power plant projects through BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) and BOO(T) Build-Operate-Own (-Transfer) methods. The technologies engineered by the company include thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, gas-fired simple and combined cycle plants, wind power, biomass power, solar power, and hydropower as well as substations. The company has gone on the path of international expansion and has carried out construction works in Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Nigeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore.
DEC, with headquarters in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, is one of the most influential enterprise groups under the direct administration of the Chinese Central Government.
