The opening of the interim campus marks the first operational milestone of Batangas State University’s industry-based learning model within LIMA Estate, developed in partnership with Aboitiz Economic Estates.
Lipa-Malvar, Batangas — Beginning August 2026, 993 first-year engineering students will commence their studies at the interim Batangas State University–LIMA Campus, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the talent pipeline for one of the country’s key economic regions.
The interim campus represents the first phase of the planned 10-hectare Batangas State University–LIMA Campus, envisioned as the Philippines’ first learning hub for industry-based learning. Located within LIMA Estate, the campus places students in close proximity to companies in manufacturing, technology, logistics, and business services, allowing academic instruction to be informed by real-world industry environments and evolving workforce requirements.
Developed around an industry-aligned academic framework, the Batangas State University–LIMA Campus enables students to complement classroom learning with direct exposure to business and industrial settings. This approach provides early insight into workplace expectations, emerging skills requirements, and potential career pathways, while allowing industry partners to engage future talent earlier in their development.
For Aboitiz Economic Estates, the campus supports Talent Edge, its workforce sustainability platform designed to strengthen talent pipelines, connect jobseekers to estate-based opportunities, support upskilling, and help locators build long-term workforce resilience.

The 10-hectare Batangas State University – LIMA Campus, located within LIMA Estate’s Industrial Hub, will serve as the Philippines’ first learning hub for industry-based learning, strengthening embedded workforce sustainability by directly linking engineering education with the evolving needs of industrial operations and supporting long-term talent development within the ecosystem.
“The long-term competitiveness of our industrial regions will depend on whether education, employment and investment can grow together,” shared Rafael P. Fernandez de Mesa, President and CEO of Aboitiz Economic Estates and Aboitiz Land. “Through our partnership with Batangas State University, LIMA Estate is helping build a more responsive talent pipeline that can support the continued growth of industry in Batangas and Southern Luzon.”
Home to more than 200 locator companies and approximately 75,000 employees, LIMA Estate provides a unique environment where education and industry can interact more closely. The arrival of the inaugural batch of students will mark the first operational milestone in embedding Batangas State University’s industry-based learning model within the estate ecosystem.
The opening of the interim campus moves the partnership from planning into implementation. By placing engineering education within an active industrial estate, Batangas State University and Aboitiz Economic Estates are establishing a practical platform through which education and industry can respond together to the region’s evolving talent requirements.
