Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. (AEV) on April 4, through the Government Relations Team (GovRel) and in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Training Division, sponsored a Media 101 Seminar attended by at least 50 top NBI officials, comprising regional directors, division chiefs and heads of the various NBI offices nationwide.
Among the NBI officials present were Deputy Director Eleanor Rachel Angeles, Deputy Spokesperson and Training Division Chief Auralyn Pascual and PIO Chief Nick Suarez.
The seminar was held at the Bayview Hotel and featured established media practitioners as resource speakers, namely Weng Hidalgo – Otilda of the Office of the Press Secretary, Maricar Maquinto – Datuin of CNN Philippines and Katherine Imson of TV5.
Through the seminar, the attendees were acquainted with knowledge of the role of the media, the media cycle as well as tips on how to face traditional media and the use of digital and social media in this day and age. Top NBI agents engaged the resource speakers in a lively discussion on their experiences in dealing with the media, while the resource speakers, in turn, discussed the DOs and DON’Ts of interviews and information gathering.
The seminar also provided an opportunity for Crystal Jimeno, Trading Manager of Pilmico, to introduce Pilmico’s High Energy Biscuits to the NBI as a source of nutrition for their agents who work long hours on case buildups and investigations.
This is the second Media 101 Seminar sponsored by AEV for an agency under the Department of Justice umbrella, in pursuit of the group’s aim to Advance Business and Communities.
