Enhancing Employee Experience Through Goals and Performance!

The Corporate Values have always been the foundation of every project initiated in the Group.

The year 2021 celebrates the value of innovation– one where processes are enhanced and initiatives are created to make work more efficient. Last 2020, Aboitiz Equity Ventures launched MyTX, the newest HR system that houses employee files, time keeping and leaves availment, benefits and loans, and onboarding. Many other need-to-know shortcuts and campaigns have also been housed in the system such as the Return-to-Work playbook, the #ProtectedTogether microsite, and access to InfinitCare, AEV’s Mental Health partner.

Newly housed in the system is the Goals and Performance Management module which easily enhances each Team Leader and Team Member’s experience in tracking their yearly SMART goals and performance. One instant feature is that we say goodbye to the countless versions of our Google sheets and say hello to ONE integrated system to track our year-round progress and goals. Among other things, there are a lot of improved features when it comes to Goals Management and Performance Management.

Achieve your SMART Goals!

As AEV continues to drive for digital transformation, Corporate HR is on the move to automate and optimize talent management processes making the administrative end for HR accessible and consequently, making the talent experience seamless. Housing everything in one system will give Corporate HR a full picture of team member information.

To give a brief overview of how goals are set, Aboitiz Group uses 4 strategic pillars:  Grow the Business, Stakeholder Engagement, Execution Excellence and Build Human Capital where each pillar focuses on the different parts of the business to give leaders a comprehensive and clear understanding of the company’s performance as aligned with the group’s long-term plans. Based on these 4 pillars, the group comes up with Organizational Goals which are the goals which directly support and advance the group’s plans and priorities. There are also Departmental Goals which are the specific goals, or milestones that a specific SBU/BU/team commits to working toward together as aligned to the organizational goals and plans. And lastly, we have Individual Goals, goals which focus on factors such as key results, outcomes, and/or deliverables based on the team member’s role and contribute to the  needs of the SBU/BU/team and organization.

The user interface mimics the manual layout which makes it easier for team members to navigate the system. All they have to do is input their goals, sub goals, goal weight, timeline for the goal, and they’re good to go. Each time a team member inputs new or updates their goals in the system, these changes are reflected to the Goal Plan page in real time.

Feedback is a GIFT!

AEV takes pride in giving its team members a platform to speak up. Instead of fearing feedback, the organization hones a culture where feedback is encouraged and listened to, regardless of rank and whether you are an internal or external stakeholder. When giving feedback, Team LEaders and Team Members are recommended to practical Radical Candor–  which is the ability to challenge directly and show that you care personally at the same time. This is where Performance Management takes the stage. Also housed in MyTX, this module consists of a Multi-Rater Feedback of 360 Feedback, Continuous Performance, and Continuous Feedback.

360 Feedback

We are engaging in a process where Team Members are able to receive 360 feedback from INTERNAL and EXTERNAL stakeholders, 365 days (anytime!) a year, on how we are living the corporate values, our leadership effectiveness, and our strengths and opportunities. Team Members will be able to request and receive feedback not only internally to the Group, but also to partners and clients outside of Aboitiz!

Continuous Performance

Team Members are encouraged to be up to date on what their priorities and the progress they are making through Continuous Coaching for Performance.
With Continuous Performance, this can stimulate continuous dialogue between team leaders and team members, helping them have more structured conversations about how to align and improve performance. This especially can be used in formal or informal one-on-one discussions.

Continuous Feedback

Feedback is one of the most important elements of successful performance reviews because it engages both the team leader and team member in the conversation and puts the spotlight on key issues. Effective performance feedback looks backward and forward, and is provided on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

With Continuous Feedback, team leaders and team members can easily provide and seek actionable feedback. Plus, share simple coaching, placing emphasis on what each team member has done well and what they can do to improve their performance. This can be done by giving immediate feedback after a presentation or seeking feedback after a project is implemented.

Through this enhancement, team leaders are kept up to date on activities team members are working on specific to goals, their priorities and the progress they are making. At the same time, Team Leaders can access activities, achievements and feedback to hold more effective performance check-ins when meeting face-to-face with their  team members. All of these enhancements have been launched for an improved employee experience.
