We awarded the 2021 Local Team Awards winners during our year-end celebration last Dec 10, 2021. The projects and teams we awarded were testaments to our A-People’s perseverance to achieve our business goals despite the setbacks that the ongoing pandemic put forth along the way. Here’s a look back at the commendable projects that strengthened our commitment to upholding the core values of the Aboitiz Way.

INTEGRITY
Project Name: Project YOUman 1.0: Transforming Team Engagement through Talent Management
CSU: Corporate External Relations
Project YOUman answered the call for help from the Career Executive Board (CESB) Secretariat in transforming organizational culture while fulfilling its mandate. The CER team offered to provide technical assistance to the CESB Secretariat to co-design and co-launch their strategic human resources management program. The project successfully addressed their HR program woes on employee engagement, succession planning, maximizing the talent assets to increase productivity, and harnessing teamwork.
TEAMWORK
Project Name: Super Duper Conversation (SuperDuperCon or SDC)
CSU: Group Human Resources
The Super Duper Conversation (SDC) is a widely appreciated initiative that serves as an avenue for Team Members across the organization to communicate with our Group President and CEO, Sabin Aboitiz, ask him the toughest questions, and get unfiltered responses in real-time. Hosted by SMA himself, it aims to share the company’s direction on issues relevant to employees and promotes transparency, courageous authenticity, and a growth mindset.
INNOVATION BREAKTHROUGH
Project Name: CLICK: An Innovative Pathway in Pursuit of Creative Learning in the NOW Normal
CSU: Corporate External Relations
CLICK’s offers a pioneering formal Executive Certification program, that has been submitted for accreditation to the Civil Service Commission and the Commission on Higher Education, for senior government officials and Career Executive Service Officers. It provides a rigorous 48-hour online executive course via a blended learning management system, designed to reinforce existing skills and enhance leadership competencies to respond to recurring challenges in this new emerging normal.
It aims to help government stakeholders develop competencies that will help define the right future organization in the public sector.
INNOVATION IMPROVEMENT
Project Name: Aboitiz Virtual Asset Tour
CSU: Investor Relations
The Aboitiz Virtual Asset Tour is a first-of-its-kind approach to the site visits required for publicly listed companies. Using a multimedia platform, it allowed the organizing team to capture the experience of a physical tour while allowing more attendees to participate, more sites to be visited, with less costs, as a way to circumvent the travel restrictions during the pandemic. The team was also able to mitigate the challenge of recreating the atmosphere and rapport of traditional physical tours by delivering a live, raw and immersive experience akin to actually being in the group’s key facilities, despite the participants actually viewing it from the comforts of their homes.
RESPONSIBILITY
Project Name: Online Production of AEV’s Annual and Sustainability Report
CSU: Reputation Management Department
The Annual and Sustainability Report is a legal requirement for publicly listed companies and requires rigorous planning, research, design, and production. Due to the ECQ implemented in March of 2020, on-site work was impeded and posed new and greater challenges for the team in terms of collaboration and delivery. The team faced the headwinds in adjusting work methods on research, writing, editing, design, proofreading, color-grading, sign-offs, publication, and distribution to produce an all-digital version. This emphasized sustainability by cutting down emissions from commuting and lowering resource consumption. The delivery of the ASR despite an uncertain business and work landscape aims to instill pride and dignity in A-People, to demonstrate that the core value of responsibility knows no season and transcends seeming limitations.
It was a fruitful year for our teams and we can only look forward to what this year will bring. May we all continue to work hand in hand in advancing business and communities!
