Ready Together: Building a Culture of Preparedness

The Disaster and Family Preparedness Workshop, held on October 27, brought together A-People for an engaging three-hour session that turned hazard awareness into practical action.

Facilitated by experts from the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), the session guided participants through real-life impacts of typhoons, floods, and earthquakes on homes and communities. Through interactive discussions, the facilitators demystified PAGASA wind signals versus rainfall warnings, flood and storm surge maps, and seismic risks, breaking down these complex topics into actionable steps that employees and their families can take at home. The workshop emphasized the importance of readiness protocols such as preparing go bags, securing homes before typhoons, evacuating early in flood-prone areas, and performing the “Drop–Cover–Hold” during earthquakes.

Building on learnings from the session, participants developed their own Family Preparedness Plans, identifying evacuation routes, safe meeting points, communication trees, and key household responsibilities using PDRF’s Family Preparedness template. AEV Safety Officers also provided orientations on the company’s Emergency Response Plans for both ATG Tower 2 (Makati) and ACO Cebu, highlighting the importance of following proper evacuation procedures, familiarizing oneself with emergency exits, and maintaining updated contact and address information via MyTX.

Designed as an immersive “learn-and-do” experience, the workshop empowered A-People to bring home not just awareness, but actionable family plans and checklists. By integrating preparedness into daily life, AEV continues to strengthen its culture of safety and resilience—ensuring that every team member and their families are truly Ready Together when it matters most.
