Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) scored four new awards from Asian Banking & Finance (ABF)’s Retail Banking Awards 2019 held on July 18, 2019 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
Proving once again that it is more than just the country’s leading digital bank, UnionBank received from ABF the SME Bank of the Year Philippines, Core Banking System Initiative of the Year Philippines, Open Banking Initiative of the Year Philippines, and a Bronze Employer Award of the Year in Asia.
According to ABF – the leading publication for banking and finance executives in Asia – UnionBank is “a proven industry game-changer against the competitive landscape of the Retail Banking Awards.”
The Bank was honored with the SME Bank of the Year Philippines award for successfully enhancing SMEs’ competitiveness in the domestic and global markets by co-creating with them – building an SME package or a suite of banking products essential to operate their business.
Meanwhile, UnionBank was cited for its core banking initiative, with the API management platform leveraging APIs which serve as a common language for core systems to interact seamlessly with one another. Simultaneously recognized was the Bank’s open banking initiative through EON – the Philippines’ first and only neo bank – which offers a suite of deposit, consumer finance, and payment products, leveraging on the latest technology to deliver an enjoyable experience, and complemented by agent branches nationwide.
