UnionBank, the Philippines’ Best Digital Bank, was named the winner of the Silver Stevie® Award in the Employer of the Year category under Banking and Financial Services in the fifth annual Stevie Awards for Great Employers.
The Stevie Awards for Great Employers recognize the world’s best companies to work for, and the HR teams, professionals, achievements, new products, and suppliers help create and drive great places to work.
In these challenging times, UnionBank has remained committed to being a digital bank that promotes capability building and ensuring no one gets left behind. The Bank fully leveraged digital capacities, which helped accelerate its digitization capabilities, moving into new business models and powering the future of financial inclusion in the country, with every employee participating in its transformation.
The past four years have seen UnionBank develop into a digital bank, an API Gateway, an app developer, and a fintech company. Its swift growth can be attributed to its pursuit of creating an agile work environment focused on culture, capability, leadership, and employee experience.
This latest award adds to UnionBank’s long list of achievements. In 2018, UnionBank received two accolades in the third annual Stevie Awards for Great Employers held in New York City, USA. The Bank received a Bronze Stevie Award for “One UnionBanker Hub, One Place Just for U” in the Achievement for HR Technology category and a Silver Stevie Award for Michelle Rubio as Chief Human Resources Officer of the Year.
More than 90 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.
“In the fifth edition of the Stevie Awards for Great Employers, the judges were impressed by the Stevie winners who – during the crises we’ve confronted this year—continue to dedicate each day to making the lives of their employees and teams better through training, software, work-from-home plans, and more. We are pleased to celebrate them in 2020 and look forward to what they will accomplish in 2021,” said Maggie Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards.
More than 700 nominations from organizations of all sizes worldwide were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of HR-related categories including Achievement in Workplace Safety & Compliance, Employer of the Year, Chief Human Resources Officer of the Year, Human Resources Team of the Year, and Employee Relations Solution Provider of the Year among others.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned”, the awards will be conferred upon the winners during a virtual awards ceremony on November 5.
