Aboitiz Construction, through its new brand for its maintenance business segment, ACI Plus, recently celebrated significant milestones in its partnership with Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc. (AAII). The team marked the second anniversary of the Treated Water Pipeline (TWP) maintenance project in November 2025, alongside the ongoing operations of the Apo Agua Water Treatment Plant (WTP), which is set to celebrate its second anniversary in March 2026.
The partnership underscores Aboitiz Construction’s vital role in ensuring the reliability of Davao City’s water infrastructure. Spanning from 2023 to 2027, the TWP Maintenance Project involves the preventive maintenance of a 52-kilometer pipeline that delivers treated water from the Apo Agua Water Treatment Plant to multiple off-take points across the city.
Meanwhile, as one of the largest facilities in the Philippines, the WTP currently operates at a capacity of 300 million liters per day. Coupled with a 52-kilometer pipeline, this network provides sustainable water to Davao City’s households and businesses. The maintenance contract for the WTP spans from 2024 to 2027, with Aboitiz Construction managing comprehensive technical services, including electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and civil works. To date, the maintenance teams for both the WTP and TWP have achieved a combined total of 261,509 safe man-hours without a lost-time incident, reflecting the company’s consistent focus on safety and operational excellence.
“We thank Aboitiz Construction for its continued support and commitment to safe, high-quality maintenance of our pipeline facilities. As we move forward, strengthening our business continuity plans through regular training and drills will be essential to ensuring the long-term reliability of the entire water system,” said AAII Asset Manager Jay de Vera.
“This milestone reflects our strong partnership with Apo Agua, built on trust and a shared commitment to quality. As Aboitiz Construction celebrates its 50th anniversary, this project showcases our 50 years of expertise in helping businesses prosper and communities thrive,” said Executive Director Antonio Peñalver.
These milestones reinforce Aboitiz Construction’s commitment to quality, proactive risk management, and teamwork, all anchored on being “Engineered for Excellence.”
Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc., a subsidiary of Aboitiz InfraCapital, operates the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project. As the first facility in Southeast Asia to utilize a “water-energy nexus” concept, it uses a run-of-river hydroelectric plant to power its treatment process. By tapping the Tamugan River, Apo Agua provides a large amount of safe water while allowing Davao’s groundwater aquifers to replenish for future generations.
