Aboitiz Construction receives SOPI Awards for Safety Excellence

Aboitiz Construction was recently honored by the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI) with multiple recognitions for its outstanding occupational safety and health performance during the 2026 SOPI Construction Safety Awards last April 24, 2026, in Quezon City.

The company’s Construction business unit received the highest recognition in the Award of Excellence category for achieving 21,846,683 safe man-hours without a lost time incident (LTI) from January 2024 to February 2026.

Its construction project site for Big E Corporation’s food processing plant in Batangas secured the Perfect Safety Record Award for logging 1,218,193 safe man-hours without LTI.

Meanwhile, Mr. Adriano Ordona, Safety Officer for the LIMA Biz Hub Project in Batangas, was named Outstanding Safety Practitioner for 2025 following a rigorous selection process among top industry nominees.

These accolades are underpinned by a significant cumulative milestone, as the company recorded a total of 32,646,009 safe man-hours without LTI from 2022 through March 31, 2026.

“At Aboitiz Construction, safety is not just a compliance requirement. It is an organizational culture that informs our every action on the ground. These recognitions from the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. serve as a testament to our team’s disciplined execution and our commitment to ensuring that every worker returns home safely,” said Ramez Sidhom, Aboitiz Construction’s Chief Operating Officer for Construction.

The significance of these awards carries substantial weight within the industry as SOPI, established in 1959, remains the country’s pioneer advocate for occupational safety and health.

Moving forward, Aboitiz Construction is further expanding its technical capabilities for 2026 by building internal work environment monitoring and industrial hygiene expertise. By developing internal safety trainers and utilizing advanced monitoring instruments, the company continues to empower its personnel to lead the charge in incident prevention and strengthen workplace safety.
