Visayan Electric employee plants a coffee sapling as a contribution to a greener future.
Visayan Electric, together with the Dulhogan Peoples Association (DPA) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), celebrated the fifth anniversary of Cebu A-Park with a tree-planting activity last August 30.
Launched in 2019, Cebu A-Park continues the Aboitiz Group’s efforts—spearheaded by Visayan Electric—to rehabilitate and protect the Buhisan Watershed Forest Reserve.
Through the collaborative effort of Aboitiz Companies, DPA, and PBSP, the program targets to plant 50,010 native and fruit-bearing seedlings in a 30-hectar area every year.
Recently, volunteer employees and members from the people’s organization have planted another batch of 50,010 seedlings in areas surrounding the Buhisan watershed.
This year marks the final year of Cebu A-Park and it has planted a total of 250,050 seedlings since 2019.

Aside from the reforestation, this project has also provided livelihood opportunities to the 250 families in the community.
The members of DPA look after the constructed 400 square meter central tree nursery for the seedlings near Buhisan Nature Center.
With the culmination of Cebu A-Park, the project will still be sustained through continuous support and initiatives by the organizations involved.
